The European Bodypainting Festival
Last weekend Mehron Girl Nicole Aspradakis did the brand proud at the European Bodypainting Festival, taking 6th place overall. The event, hosted in the picturesque Netherlands, was a summer bodypainting fairy tale. The artists worked outdoors under tents in a beautiful park amid a lush, green landscape. In this open air space, fans could watch over the artists' shoulders as they created their magic. Their art was then presented in a spectacular stage show. Nicole's creations brought powerful messages to life. In Round 1, themed Wonders of Nature, Nicole expressed her concern for ocean life. "I have always lived near the ocean and I admire and adore its powerful and beautiful nature. Unfortunately, it's slowly losing its beauty as it progressively gets more and more polluted and the gorgeous and colorful sea life is extinguished and replace by rubbish. Plastic bottles, cigarette butts, bottle caps, oil spills, the list goes on. It is something I feel very strongly about and I hope something can be done to save this wonder of nature soon," said Nicole.
Nicole's art for Round 2 also evoked strong emotions. Following the theme Revolution - Time for Change, Nicole focused on the need to protect animal life. "Daily we see posts and hear stories about powerful animals being poached, drugged, murdered and breeds are becoming extinct for silly reasons like sport, greed, fun. I dream of the day these wonderful, powerful creatures realize that they are stronger than humans and decide to stand up, band together, and take back their world," said Nicole. "In my work, creatures are mutating in even more powerful versions and forming the perfect animal warrior in order to start their revolution against the earth's biggest enemy - humanity."
Just as with the World Bodypainting Festival, Mehron UK sponsored Nicole for this event as well. "As always, it is an absolute pleasure and honor to work with Nicole," said Lauren Thompson of Mehron UK. "While Nicole was at the World Bodypainting Festival many people approached her in regards to taking place in the European Festival. When she asked if we would sponsor her, without a moment's though we said yes because she is so truly talented. We are so incredibly proud of her coming in 6th place."
This sponge and brush type bodypainting was only one aspect of the festival. There is also a focus on special effects. With Halloween just around the corner, Mehron Europe demonstrated in this artistic space. This zombie was created by Monique Lily using our Special FX products.
Mehron Europe also sponsored the Out of Focus Latex Show of Odd Territory with designer Kim Leeftink, doing the makeup for the show's models as well.
