Lip Art by Vlada Haggerty |
When you talk about lip art, there are a few amazing artists that come to mind. In fact, four of them were recently highlighted in Cosmopolitan's Look-at-Me Lips feature: Vlada Haggerty, Johannah Adams, Ryan Kelly, and Karla Powell. We are so inspired by these artists that we decided to do a Lip Art Leading Ladies series. Each artist is so talented and has so much to share that rather than create a single post on all four women, we decided to do a series so we could really feature each artist on their own and truly showcase their work. The idea behind the concept was to get a glimpse into what is involved in creating these works of art - the length of the creation process, how so much detail is put into one lip, inspiration, and more. We are kicking off the series with the talented Vlada Haggerty.

Vlada Haggerty
Born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine, Vlada started her professional makeup career in 2011, at the Natalia Nayda Makeup School in Eastern Europe. Her training at the prestigious school prepared her well for a career in the industry. An award-winning artist, Vlada's makeup and hairstyling have been published internationally. She is a sought-after MUA for editorial, fashion, and beauty photo shoots, and works with some of the top makeup industry brands. While her makeup looks are stunning, she is perhaps best known for her amazing lip art, especially her signature drip! We caught up with Vlada to learn more about her creative process.Mehron: How many hours does it take to create such intricate lip art and take the photos?
Vlada: It depends on the design! It may take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Normally, from start to finish (including post production) each photo takes 2 to 4 hours to create.
Mehron: How do you put so much detail into one lip?
Vlada: I put all my love and passion in it. When I first started doing lip art, I would only use stickers and gems, objects in general. But over time, I was able to develop enough skill to actually paint designs on my lips. Practice really does make perfect!
Mehron: Who or what inspires your lip art?
Vlada: I get inspired by everything around me. Some of my favorite pieces were inspired by my childhood memories and food.
Mehron: What makes Mehron products so popular with so many artists doing lip art?
Vlada: The quality, variety, and price point does it for me!
Mehron: What Mehron extreme/performance products are your lip art go-to's?
Vlada: My all time favorite Mehron products are the Gold Metallic Powder and Glosstone Pro clear lip gloss.
Below are some more of Vlada's lip looks to get you inspired.
